सुकमा एसपी व बस्तर आईजी घटना की निगरानी में लगे रहे, पुलिस पहले कुछ भी बताने को तैयार नहीं थी। डीजीपी डीएम अवस्थी ने मुठभेड़ की पुष्टि की है लेकिन शहीदों या घायलों की संख्या बताने में असमर्थता जताई। उन्होंने कहा जब तक पूरी टीम लौट नहीं आती कैसे बता सकते हैं कि क्या हुआ है। 

मौके पर बड़ी संख्या में नक्सली भी मारे गए हैं। टीम लौटे तो गणना होगी। तभी साफ होगा कि कितने घायल हैं। जिस जगह यह मुठभेड़ हुई है वह पहुंच विहीन इलाका माना जाता है।
